When you dream alone, it remains just a dream. But, when you dream together, it is the beginning of reality.
Bolzano, 16 April 2012 – Drawings depicting peace by Italian and Afghan children will feature in an exhibition in Bolzano in Italy’s Alto Adige region from 16 to 24 April 2012.

The exhibition, Let us paint Peace, so that Peace will come, will be held at the Walther von der Vogelweide cultural centre in Bolzano at the initiative of Dr Margret Bergmann, an enthusiastic and creative benefactor of JRS Afghanistan education projects.

"In Afghanistan, young people account for 70% of the population. They yearn for 'peace, security, and a good education' – so our students say when we ask them. They are not alone in their tenuous dreams. Margret and Petra share our dream for the youth of Afghanistan," said Stan Fernandes SJ, JRS South Asia Director.

Together with Dr Petra Eisentecken, Dr Bergmann has drawn in friends, local officials, and more than 9,000 students from South Tyrol to participate in the project. Children and young people who are learning English in JRS projects in Afghanistan have contributed their handiwork too. A jury selected 350 pictures that will feature in the exhibition.
