Maria Fausta Gallamini was born in Genova, Italy but she currently lives in Rome with her husband.
After 25 years of a musical career as an opera singer, she decided to turn the page in 1995, and started to work at Centro Astalli in Rome, one of the Jesuit Refugee Service's earliest projects. She has worked with refugees and displaced people for nearly 7 years.
There, many refugees arrive in Rome after long and difficult journeys and need assistance. She worked at the medical dispensary and helped refugees with their health problems. This experience along with many visits to JRS projects in Africa at various refugee camps changed her life.
Since 2005, Maria Fausta has worked at the International Office as the Assistant of the International Philanthropy and Development Department. She often works directly with donors who support JRS and its' mission. She enjoys being part of the JRS family and working with her colleagues.
Her main interest, of course, is music. Her hobbies: gardening, trekking, and enjoying nature.
