Gavin was born in Northern Ireland, lived most of his childhood in Nigeria, with a small "digression" in Colombia and Venezuela, and finally moved to Rome where he attended and completed grammar school at Massimiliano Massimo Jesuit High School and International Law at LUISS University.
During his high school and university years, Gavin took part in social apostolate activities of the Society of Jesus in Rome and abroad, thanks to which he gained a firsthand understanding of issues surrounding poverty, inequality, and forced displacement, which deeply marked him both personally and professionally.
Gavin has worked in the humanitarian sector for over 11 years in countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Lebanon, Cameroun, Chad and Central African Republic, in the capacity of Programme Manager, Country Director and Consultant for different government agencies and NGOs.
He joined JRS in 2014, working in Beirut as Middle East Regional Programmes Officer, focusing on the IDP crisis in Syria. Gavin has been Programmes Coordinator at JRS' International Office since March 2017.
