Ernesto Lorda

Originally from Mexico, with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering by the Universidad Iberoamericana Torreón in Mexico, and a Master Degree in International Development by the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain, Ernesto has always been involved in Project Management and in field operations whether in the private sector (engineering and construction) or the humanitarian world.

He joined JRS in 2009 as Regional Programmes Officer in the Great Lakes region in Africa, where he supported the work in Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi. He joined the rapid response team of JRS in 2012, where carried out assessment missions into Ethiopia and South Sudan. He was appointed as acting Regional Director for the West Africa region in 2013, where he represented the work of JRS in the Central Africa Republic, Ivory Coast and Chad. In May 2014 he joined the International Office as International Programmes Coordinator with special focus in the Middle East Region. He currently follows the work of JRS in the Great Lakes, Middle East, Asia Pacific and South Asia regions.

His expertise in the different phases of the Project Cycle Management, including managing grants for different agencies (UNHCR, UNICEF, etc.) and donors (ECHO, BPRM, etc.); his knowledge of JRS operations worldwide; along with his experience in different sectors such as protection, education in emergencies, and water and sanitation make him an important asset and support for JRS regions.
